Shinsegae becomes the largest shareholder of Starbucks Korea

Shinsegae Group is expected to become the sole largest shareholder by acquiring an additional 20% stake in Starbucks Korea held by Starbucks headquarters (Starbucks International) in the U.S. The remaining 30% owned by Starbucks International will be acquired by the Singapore Investment Authority (GIC).

In the process, Starbucks Korea is also reportedly discussing listing.

According to the distribution industry on the 25th, Shinsegae Group and GIC are expected to finalize their plan to acquire a 50% stake in Starbucks Korea soon.

Starbucks Korea is 50% owned by Starbucks International and E-Mart. Shinsegae Group and GIC have been discussing ways to acquire 20% and 30% of Starbucks International's shares, respectively.

Once the acquisition is confirmed, E-Mart will have 70% and GIC 30%, respectively. Starbucks Korea's corporate value is estimated at late 2 trillion won. E-Mart and GIC will invest about 500 billion won and 800 billion won.
