The Fair Trade Commission will initiate the process to impose sanctions on LG Electronics' alleged unfair advertising of clothing dryers.
According to industry sources on the 4th, the FTC will hold a plenary session on the 14th to determine the level of sanctions over allegations that LG Electronics made unfair advertisements such as false and exaggerated.
The dryer had a hassle for consumers to clean because the dust on their clothes stuck inside the device.
LG Electronics launched the 'Tromm Dual Inverter Heat Pump' dryer and advertised that the 'automatic washing' function always works.
However, a complaint was filed with the Korea Consumer Agency that dust disappeared inside the device because the automatic cleaning function did not work, and in July 2019, 247 buyers of the dryer applied for mediation of a collective dispute with the Korea Consumer Agency, seeking for full refund.
