[Infostock Daily= Reporter Song Jeong-hoon] Hyundai Motor will launch its first next-generation electric car as early as January next year.
It also plans to change the second line of Ulsan 1 plant to an electric car line.
According to the automobile industry on November 11, Hyundai Motor recently unveiled its NE production plan to the labor union. NE is the next generation electric vehicle code name.
NE will be based on the electric car concept car '45', which Hyundai Motor first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year.
Last year, Hyundai developed 'E-GMP', a dedicated platform, to apply to next-generation electric cars.
E-GMP is characterized by being able to provide personalized space according to the lifestyle of consumers in accordance with the characteristics of electric cars that can secure a wider internal space than internal combustion engine vehicles.
In addition, Hyundai Motor reportedly delivered a plan to change the 2 line of Ulsan 1 plant to an electric car line.
Electric cars are expected to have conflicts with unions and companies that require employment stability because the manpower required for production is less than that of existing internal combustion locomotives.
“It is true that we talked to the union about the production of NE,” a Hyundai Motor official said. “But we did not confirm the specific details.”
