[Infostock Daily= Reporter Lee Kang-wook] 59.3% of the respondents said they do not visit banks but trade money through mobile(smartphone) applications (apps) and the Internet.

On the other hand, the proportion of bank windows and ATMs is decreasing for the fourth year, with 7.9% and 26.4%, respectively.

According to the 2019 Status of Using Internet Banking Services in Korea released by the Bank of Korea on the 1st, as of the end of December last year, the proportion of mobile and Internet banking was 59.3%, well over half.

In the case of total bank account inquiry services, mobile and Internet banking account for 90.3%.

In particular, the proportion of mobile and Internet banking in loan services used by visiting bank branches was 14.8%, which is about six times larger in three years than in 2016 (2.5%).

The number of mobile and Internet banking usage also increased sharply. The number of usages last year was 156 million, up 31.7% from the previous year, and the amount reached 48.8 trillion won.

Currently, the number of registered mobile and Internet banking customers of domestic banks is estimated to reach 159.23 million (the sum of duplicates of banks).

It has more than three bank mobile service accounts per citizen.

On the other hand, the proportion of ATMs (CDs) and ATMs decreased from 30.2% in 2018 to 26.4% last year, and the proportion of bank windows also fell from 8.8% to 7.9%.
