Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, a mid-sized holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, has won orders for 10 container ships promoting liquefied natural gas (LNG) worth a total of 745.6 billion won.
Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said on the 23rd that it has recently signed a construction contract with a European shipping company for 10 2000TEU (1TEU is a 20-foot container) container ships.
The ships ordered this time are 204m long, 29m wide and 18m high, and will be built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan and delivered to the shipper sequentially by the second half of 2024.
Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering plans to build 107, or about 50 percent, of the 221 ships it won this year, including the contracted container ships, with eco-friendly ships equipped with LNG, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and methanol fuel propulsion engines.
