Prosecutors have launched a search and seizure operation against Hana Bank, a fund seller, due to the suspension of large-scale redemption of the Italian healthcare fund.
According to the prosecution on the 4th, the Financial Investigation Department 2 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors'Office raided Hana Bank's headquarters on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act and fraud under the Special Economic Act to secure data on fund sales.
The victims filed a complaint with the prosecution in July last year against fund seller Hana Bank, fund-related asset management firms and securities firms on charges of fund fraud.
An official from the prosecution explained, "This search and seizure is a response to the complaints made by the victims of the redemption of the Italian healthcare fund.".
Hana Bank has sold more than 100 billion won in Italian healthcare funds over the past three years since 2017, saying it is a product that Italian hospitals invest in medical expense sales bonds to be claimed by local governments.
However, the repayment was postponed from the end of 2019, but the redemption was suspended last year.
