Shinhan Bank will close about 40 stores nationwide in the second half of this year.

Including six stores that have already been closed in the first half of the year, about 50 stores will be closed this year alone.

According to the financial sector, Shinhan Bank recently finalized its plan to merge its stores. The bank explained that it has no choice but to close some stores this year by reducing the number of stores compared to other commercial banks last year.

With the expansion of non-face-to-face operations due to COVID-19, commercial banks have recently been speeding up the closure of offline stores.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service, 304 domestic bank stores decreased last year. It is the largest decline since 2017.

More than 100 people reportedly applied for voluntary retirement conducted by Shinhan Bank from the 10th to the 14th.
