The delivery of 'Ionic 5', which has become popular since the pre-order, has been disrupted due to supply and demand problems of key parts such as semiconductors and motors.
According to the industry on the 7th, Hyundai Motor's Ulsan Plant 1, which manufactures a small sports utility vehicle (SUV) Kona and the first exclusive electric vehicle Ionic 5, will be closed for a week.
The plant shutdown stems from the supply and demand of major parts of Ionic 5 and Kona. Ionic 5, which went into mass production last month, is experiencing a shortage of 'PE modules' due to problems with Hyundai Mobis facilities.
Considering the shutdown and timing of supply normalization, Hyundai Motor has drastically reduced its production plan for the Ionic 5 this month from 10,000 units to 2,600 units.
