[Infostock Daily=Reporter Park Jeong-Do] Hyundai and Kia Motors announced on the 24th that they are working on various projects by recruiting Professor Tomaso A. Poggio and Professor Daniela L. Rus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the top scholars in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), as advisors.

Hyundai and Kia Motors are consulting on major issues for strengthening the competitiveness of the group's future industry, such as establishing new business planning and technology strategies, establishing a global research organization, and establishing investment directions for securing research infrastructure based on artificial intelligence through AI technical advisors.

Hyundai and Kia Motors, which are pushing for a transition from automobile manufacturing companies to smart mobility companies, are pursuing investment and collaboration in various fields such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, vehicle sharing, mobility and electric power. The acquisition of a world-class scholar as an AI technical advisor is aimed at responding to competition for future car development and further strengthening expertise in the development of artificial intelligence technology for sustainable growth.

Professor Tomaso Pozio, who is an advisory committee member, is considered to be the world's best scholar in neural network research and artificial intelligence applications. He is currently a professor of brain and cognitive science at MIT Engineering University and is also the head of the brain, mind and machine center under MIT. He has been studying theorizing and analyzing human visual information and has been awarded the Swartz Prize for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience of the American Society for Neuroscience. Alan Institute's head and chief scientific officer Christof Koch, Mobil Eye CTO and founder Amnon Shashua, and Deep Minds CEO and founder Demis Hassabis are known as his pupils.

In addition, Professor Daniella Russ has been working on various forms of robots and autonomous driving to improve human life as an authority in robots and artificial intelligence. He is currently a professor of electrical and computer engineering at MIT Engineering University and is also the head of MIT Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. He has been selected as the winner of the MacArthur Fellowship awarded by the MacArthur Foundation in the United States. In April of this year, he was appointed as a member of the US Presidential Advisory Committee on Science and Technology.

Hyundai and Kia Motors are consulting on various new business strategies such as improving vehicle quality, robotics, and smart mobility solutions using artificial intelligence.

Introducing artificial intelligence technology to some processes such as vehicle quality inspection can maximize the efficiency of the process. At this time, there is also a consultation on how to improve the learning efficiency of artificial intelligence models with a small amount of data, how to provide developers with the basis of the results of the inspection determined by artificial intelligence, and how to utilize various artificial intelligence technologies in the field of vehicle quality improvement, including real-time reflection of newly generated data.
