POSCO Chemical acquired a stake in a Chinese company in order to stably secure old black cotton, which is used as a raw material for cathode materials, a key material for secondary battery batteries.
POSCO Chemical announced on the 9th that it will acquire a 13% stake in Qingdao Zhongshuo, a Chinese graphite processing company, and receive old graphite needed to produce anode materials from next year. It invested 4.9 billion won in acquiring the stake.
Qingdao Zhongshuo, located in Pingdu, Shandong Province, China, is Hai, China's largest graphite raw material company It's a subsidiary company.
The Pingdushi plant (photo) produces 25,000 tons of old black smoke annually.
