Hanwha Defense is planning to design the concept of the U.S. Army's next-generation manned and unmanned combined infantry combat armored vehicles.
According to Hanwha Defense on the 25th, the US Army announced five candidates to participate in the second stage concept design of the OMFV development project on the 23rd.
One of them was the "Oshkosh-Hanwha" consortium, which was joined by Oshkosh Defense, a U.S. military vehicle developer, and Hanwha Defense.
The OMFV project is a key task for the US Army modernization project to replace more than 3,500 M2 Bradley armored vehicles.
The total project cost amounts to 54 trillion won. The five candidates selected this time will conduct conceptual research and design work that meets the main requirements presented by the U.S. Army for 15 months.
By 2023, the number of candidates to be in charge of detailed design and prototype development will be narrowed down to three companies and the final operator will be announced in the second half of 2027.
