LG Electronics is expected to make a decision as early as next week on its mobile (MC) division, which recorded a deficit of 5 trillion won for six years from 2015. Some predict that the company will make a decision of complete shutdown as the sales negotiation had fallen aprt. The company had negotiated with a Vietnamese company to sell its smartphone division.
According to the industry on the 1st, LG Electronics will hold a board meeting on the 5th and announce the business plan of the MC division in charge of the smartphone business.
LG Electronics has recently confirmed the complete shutdown of its smartphone MC division and has begun work to deploy the division.
Once the shutdown of the business is decided, LG Electronics is expected to shift its workforce to the other electronics business and battery sector.
