[Infostock Daily=Reporter Lee Ji-sun] Mando, an auto parts maker of Halla Group, will acquire Mando Hella Electronics, a company specializing in autonomous driving and electric components.
Mando announced on the 3rd that it has decided to buy a 50% stake in Mando Hella, which is owned by German Hella and its holding company Halla Holdings.
The acquisition amount is 165 billion won. Mando plans to strengthen its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) business through this acquisition. First of all, it will diversify its product line by collaborating with more than 140 research and development (R&D) personnel of Mando Hella.
In addition to mid- and long-range radars already in mass production, it has decided to develop short-range radars on its own. It will also start developing indoor passenger detection sensors and next-generation integrated controllers. Through this, it is a strategy to have a lineup of key autonomous components leading to radar, camera, and integrated controller.
Mando will also entrust Mando Hella with the production of electronic control unit (ECU) and next-generation high-performance long-range radar that controls 'SBW', which was introduced at ' CES 2021', the world's largest IT and consumer electronics exhibition last month.
In addition, it plans to increase global sales by utilizing Mando Hella's overseas production base (Suzhou, China, and Chennai, India).
