[Infostock Daily=Reporter Park Jeong-do] Three mobile carriers will open a base station in the 28GHz frequency band of 5th generation (5G) mobile communication this month. It is the first 5G 28GHz base station in Korea.
The three mobile carriers, including SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus, are completing the first construction of 5G 28GHz base stations in Incheon, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, and Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.
It is an infrastructure creation work for the 5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) public leading project of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the provision of services following the participation of the government business network (national convergence network) project.
SK Telecom will establish a quarantine system system using 5G 28GHz-based MEC at Incheon International Airport.
KT uses 5G 28GHz for non-face-to-face sports lectures at Suwon public sports facilities.
LG Uplus will build 5G 28GHz base stations in Gumi Kumoh National University of Technology, Industrial Complex, Ansan Banwol and Sihwa Industrial Complex, and Jeonju Apartment Complex
