Naver nominates Choi Su-yeon, born in 1981, as CEO

Naver, the nation's largest Internet company, will welcome a woman born in 1981 as its new head.

Naver held a board meeting on the 17th and announced that it has approved Choi Soo-yeon (41), chief executive officer in charge of global business support, as its chief executive officer (CEO) nominee.

Accordingly, nominee Choi will be finally appointed as the next CEO after approval of the shareholders'meeting and a resolution by the board of directors to be held in March next year.

Born in 1981, Choi Soo-yeon graduated from Seoul National University's College of Technology and entered the industry in 2005 as a new employee of Naver (then NHN).

Afterwards, she graduated from Yonsei University's Law School, worked as a lawyer in Yulchon, went through Harvard Law School and obtained a New York State bar license.

She joined Naver again in 2019 and has been in charge of overseas business in the global business support department. In March last year, she was appointed as a non-registered executive of Naver.

Naver executives also appointed Kim Nam-sun (44), who was born in 1978, as the new chief financial officer (CFO).
