VPS is Vibe's new sound source settlement method based on 'personal settlement method' that allocates my fee only to the artist's music I heard. Naver said in March that it will start settlement through VPS in the first half of this year in order to distribute the fee for the sound source more fairly and transparently and to solve the problem of chronic sound source hoarding.
The company has been steadily negotiating for the introduction of VPS to domestic and foreign rights companies. As a result, VPS settlement method was applied to 280 of 297 domestic and foreign music distributors supplying music to Vibe. In the future, we will continue to expand VPS through steady communication.
The results of the settlement through VPS were consistent with the simulation results that were announced before the actual introduction. The settlement amount for the sound source that a small number of users focused on decreased, but the settlement amount for the sound source that a wide number of users watched in the month, such as the artist who received the attention of the medium singer, drama OST, and the long-awaited sound source, increased by 40%.
On the other hand, ▲ music source that exploits AI recommendation system by registering general nouns (magistrate, preaching, and song) as musicians' names ▲ Sound sources whose number of plays per capita is abnormally detected the settlement amount for has fallen sharply.
