[Infostock Daily= Reporter Ryu Ki-heon] Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and Samsung Heavy Industries, the three major Korean shipbuilders, have signed a contract with Qatar Petroleum (QP), a state-owned oil company in Qatar, for an LNG carrier worth 23 trillion won.
QP said in a press release posted on its homepage on june 1th, it has concluded an agreement with three Korean shipbuilders on LNG carriers. QP will receive more than 100 LNG vessels from these three shipbuilders by 2027.
The contract contains QP's securing a large portion of the LNG carrier's construction space (slot) from three domestic shipbuilders by 2027. The business size is 70 billion Riyal (about 23.6 trillion won).
