[Infostock Daily= Reporter Park Sang-In] BTS agency Big Hit Entertainment has confirmed the acquisition of Pledice.
“We acquired the stake in Pledice Entertainment, a subsidiary of Group Seventeen and New East, to secure the largest shareholder status,” Big Hit Entertainment said on Wednesday.
Big Hit is expanding its label by acquiring its stake in Pledice following the acquisition of its group girlfriend's agency, Sos Music, and game company Superb. The joining of Pledice is part of a big hit company strategy to create synergies through continuous expansion of multi-labels and advancement of professional business areas.
In addition, BTS's global popularity has led to a rapid growth in company sales, but its profit structure is too focused on one group, which allows it to reinforce its basic physical strength by acquiring Pledice.
Pledis will be independent after joining the big hit, and its artists will be supported by business corporations and organizations.
"We are delighted to be able to collaborate with Han Sung-soo CEO of Pledis and Pledis creative organization," said Bang Si-hyuk, chairman of Big Hit. "Big Hit and Pledis will share music, grow together, and create great synergy between each other."
Meanwhile, Pledis is an entertainment company founded by Han Sung-soo in 2007 and has produced Son Dam-bi, After School, and Orange Caramel. Currently, Boy Group New East and Seventeen belong.
