The Philippines Navy's latest escort ship, "Jose Rizal"

[Infostock Daily= Reporter Park Sang-In] Hyundai Heavy Industries' dry Philippines' latest escort ship departed to the Philippines with masks and other anti-virus items.

Hyundai Heavy Industries said today that it had set sail for the "Jose Rizal", the latest 2,600-ton frigate of the Philippine Navy, at its headquarters in Ulsan.

Josérijal, who leaves for Subic Port in the Philippines, is a ship ordered as part of the Philippine Navy's aging ship modernization project.

The range of the port is more than 4,500 nautical miles (8,300 km), so it will be used for long-term expenses.

It can also operate at a maximum speed of 25 knots (about 46 km/h) and will be the first Philippine Navy to operate guided missiles and torpedoes.

Hyundai Heavy Industries said it delivered four months earlier than planned despite the Corona 19 virus.

Hyundai Heavy Industries sent 20,000 masks, 180 disinfectants for disinfection, 2,000 hand disinfectants, and 300 packs of disinfectant tissues to the Philippines, which is a member of the Korean War.

In the Philippines, the number of confirmed cases of Corona 19 virus reached 12,000, and the three areas of Metro Manila, the metropolitan area, were blocked.

Hyundai Heavy Industries said it expects that the support for anti-virus goods will greatly help strengthen friendship between the two countries.

"We thank the related agencies such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the Defense Agency, and the Philippine Embassy for helping us deliver the latest escort ship early," said Nam Sang-hoon, vice president of the special ship business division at Hyundai Heavy Industries. "We will take the lead in the Philippine Navy modernization project with our advanced technology and will do our best to win projects based on deep trust between the two countries."

Hyundai Heavy Industries designed and built more than 80 battleships and submarines, including the first Aegis ship, King Sejong, and the next generation escort ship, Incheon.

Currently, we are concentrating our capabilities on the concept design of LPX-II (large transport ship) and are also spurring preparations for the KDDX (Korean-style car-building) project.
