[Infostock Daily= Reporter Park Sang-In] Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor consignment manufacturer, will establish a state-of-the-art semiconductor plant in Arizona, USA.
TSMC said it will invest about $ 12 billion and 14.7 trillion won in a statement released on the 15th to build a 5nm semiconductor plant in Arizona.
The new plant will begin construction in 2021 and will start mass production in 2024.
TSMC's construction of factories in the United States, which has a high production cost, reflects the changes in the global economic order, which has been divided into the United States and China since the Corona 19 crisis.
President Donald Trump emphasized the need for self-sufficiency of semiconductors, saying that the United States is relying on Asian countries such as Taiwan, China and Korea to produce semiconductor parts for high-tech products while the US-China conflict is intensifying.
As a result, the US administration has been pressuring TSMC to build a factory in the United States, which eventually accepted the request.
