The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the 'Game Industry Promotion Comprehensive Plan' on the 7th at the Sejong Government Complex held by the Prime Minister.

The plan includes four key strategies and 16 emphasis tasks: support for innovative growth through active regulation and system improvement, strengthening step-by-step support from start-up to overseas market entry, spreading positive value of games, fostering e-sports industry, and strengthening game industry base.

The government decided to actively improve regulations and systems that prevent growth by reflecting the voice of the field first to foster the game industry.

We plan to improve the 'game content revision reporting system' to exempt the obligation to report light contents and introduce selective preliminary reporting.

In order to activate new game distribution, the game classification standard will be changed from the current platform to the contents to prevent duplicate classification and expand the private self-classification.

In addition, it decided to introduce a domestic agent designation system for overseas game operators without domestic corporations to protect domestic users and resolve the reverse discrimination of domestic companies.

We decided to improve the negative perception of the game and to concentrate on establishing a healthy game culture.

The game will be added to culture and arts under the Culture and Arts Promotion Act, and the education on the right game use will be systematized and the target audience will be expanded.

We plan to open a family-oriented game culture festival and provide a place where all generations can communicate through games.

In addition, the government decided to establish a related industrial ecosystem to secure the status of Korea as an e-sports leader and expand its base. The company plans to set up an e-sports amateur tournament and nurture amateur teams by designating PC rooms as e-sports facilities based on local permanent stadiums.

In addition, the standard contract to protect e-sports players will be prepared and distributed within this year and the player registration system will be expanded.

The government has set a goal of expanding domestic game industry sales to 19.9 trillion won by 2024 and exports to 11.5 trillion won and increasing the number of jobs to 102,000. As of 2018, game sales are 14.3 trillion won, exports are 7.5 trillion won, and jobs are 85,000.
