[Infostock Daily= reporter Song Jeong-hoon] The nuclear dismantling personnel of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power will be dispatched overseas for the first time.
KHNP announced on July 7 that it signed a contract to support Canadian dismantling engineering to dispatch domestic nuclear dismantling specialists to the Canadian nuclear engineering company Kinectrics and the Canadian nuclear dismantling site earlier this month.
This is the first time that nuclear dismantling personnel are dispatched overseas.
KHNP said, "Kinectrics has highly appreciated the technology of replacing the pressure tube and improving the facilities of Wolsong Unit 1, which KHNP has carried out earlier." Kinectrics was made with the hope that KHNP would participate in similar projects. "
Through this contract, five experts in the field of nuclear dismantling, including four KHNP employees and one KHNP partner company, will be dispatched to Kinectrics for the next year.
They carry out dismantling waste management and process business development at the dismantling sites such as Bruce Nuclear Power Plant, Pickering Nuclear Power Plant, and Darlington Nuclear Power Plant in Canada.
An official of KHNP said, "We expect to contribute to fostering the ecosystem of nuclear power plant dismantling industry by expanding overseas sales by not only enhancing the capacity of dismantling domestic nuclear power plants but also gaining an advantage in entering the global market and winning similar projects in the future."
