[Infostock Daily= reporter Song Jeong-hoon] Hyundai Motor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Washington, DC Department of Energy (DOE) on October 10 to expand innovation in hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cell technology.
Hyundai will provide five Nexo passenger cars to the US Department of Energy and support the construction of a hydrogen charging station in Washington, DC.
Hyundai Motor and the Ministry of Energy plan to share Nexo with academics, government agencies and various industries by securing empirical data such as durability, efficiency and performance of hydrogen fuel cell system while operating Nexo in harsh environment and conditions.
In addition, it plans to provide hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cell technology to hydrogen industry specialist education and manpower development program and promote hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cell technology of industry and general public in addition to automobile.
In this case, it is expected to have a positive impact on various industries including automobiles, railways, ships, and aircraft.
"Hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cell technology can be used in various industries, so it is necessary for a sustainable future," said Hyundai Motor Vice Chairman Chung Sun. "As part of our efforts to convert to clean energy, I think it is very meaningful to cooperate and support the hydrogen fuel cell program of the US Department of Energy. "
