LG Display succeeded in developing the world's first Stretchable display (photo) that can freely increase, fold, and twist.
LG Display announced on the 8th that it recently held the 'First Stage of Performance Sharing of the Stretchable National Project' and developed the world's first 12-inch full-color stretchable display that implements high resolution while increasing screens by up to 20%.
Stretchable displays are called the ultimate Free-Form display because they can be freely transformed in any form, such as stretching, folding, and twisting.
The prototype (a prototype) released by LG Display was the first in the world to flexibly increase a 12-inch screen to 14 inches (20% stretch) and succeeded in implementing high-resolution at the level of a regular monitor (100ppi, ppi is a unit that represents the number of pixels per inch) and RGB full color at the same time.
In particular, it is evaluated that it has overcome the technical challenge for commercialization by dramatically increasing flexibility, durability, and reliability, which are the core of stretchable display technology.
LG Display plans to further increase the completeness of stretchable display equipment and material technology by 2024 when the national project is completed.
