Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 24th that it has signed a contract to acquire a 10% stake in Konan Technology, an artificial intelligence (AI) and big data specialist.
KAI explained that it decided to invest this time to secure future business technologies that combine fourth industrial revolution technologies such as AI, big data, and deep learning with aviation and defense.
Konan Technology specializes in natural language processing (NLP) technology and software (SW) data services through big data-based solution services and digital twin and platform development.
Through this equity investment, KAI will develop AI-based failure and life expectancy forecasting systems (PHM) that can be applied to KF-21, FA-50, Surion and urban air traffic (UAM).
