Hyundai Motor's Asan plant will again suspend operations for three days from the 15th due to supply and demand shortages of semiconductors.

According to Hyundai Motor on the 14th, the Asan plant will be closed from the 15th to the 17th due to a lack of supply of semiconductors for vehicles.

Earlier, Hyundai Motor stopped operating on the 9th-10th and resumed operation on the 13th, but the production line stopped again due to worsening supply and demand conditions.

The Asan plant produces Sonata and Grandeur. The shutdown of the Asan plant was reportedly caused by problems in supplying semiconductors to engine control units (ECU) made at factories in Malaysia in the aftermath of the COVID-19.

This is because local semiconductor plants are not operating normally due to the COVID-19 Delta mutation spreading in Southeast Asia.

Hyundai Motor's Ulsan 4 plant will also close some lines due to supply shortages of semiconductors. Line 41 will be shut down until this day and Line 42 will be shut down until the 17th. In Line 41, Staria, Palisade, Starex, etc. are made, and Line 42 produces Porter.
