Chung (22), the eldest son of Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, caused an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors'Office said on the 12th that it is investigating Chung, the son of Chung, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.
Chung was driving Hyundai's Genesis GV80 vehicle at around 4:45 a.m. on the 24th of last month and hit a guardrail on the driveway to Cheongdam Bridge on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro.
It is reported that the driver's seat bumper and tire were badly damaged in the impact of the accident. After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and charged Chung with drunk driving.
According to the survey, Chung was drunk enough to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.164%, more than double the 0.08% standard for revocation of his license.
Chung reportedly stated that he drank at an acquaintance's apartment in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Police investigating the case sent Chung to the prosecution on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act on the 6th.
