Hyosung Advanced Materials has started to expand its carbon fiber plant in Jeonju in preparation for increased demand for eco-friendly hydrogen vehicles.
Hyosung Advanced Materials announced that it will invest 75.8 billion won to expand its carbon fiber production line to 6,500 tons per year by July 2022 at its Jeonju plant in North Jeolla Province.
This is an additional expansion following last year's increase in production from 2000 tons per year to 4,000 tons. Meanwhile, the expansion is part of a large-scale carbon fiber investment plan announced in 2019.
By 2028, the company will invest 1 trillion won to expand its carbon fiber production line at its Jeonju plant to 24,000 tons per year.
