SK, an investment holding company of SK Group, announced on the 15th that it will acquire Signet EV, a high-speed charger manufacturer, to enter the electric vehicle charging market. The company will also invest in Swedish electric vehicle brand Polstar for partnership.
Signet EV, established in 2016, is the world's first company received U.S. certification in 2018 and has more than 50% market share in the U.S.. SK will acquire a 55.5% stake in Signet EV for 293 billion won.
In addition, SK decided to invest $60 million in Polestar through the 'New Mobility Fund' recently created with Geely Automobile Group.
Sweden-based Polestar is a premium electric car brand set up by Volvo Motor Co. and Geely Automobile Group. SK plans to collaborate with Polestar in various fields as a strategic partner in the eco-friendly mobility business.
