[Infostock Daily=Reporter Lee Ji-sun] SK Telecom has formed a 'dream team' with related leading organizations and companies to open the flying car era linking land and public transportation in 2025.
SK Telecom announced on the 28th that it has signed a business agreement with Korea Airports Corporation, Hanwha System and the Korea Transport Institute at Gimpo Airport in Seoul to commercialize Urban Air Mobility (UAM).
UAM is an aviation mobile service that utilizes an electric-driven vertical take-off and landing small vehicle (eVTOL), and is drawing attention as a service to innovate the lives of urban people as it can be reached in about 20 minutes in an hour by car and can be connected with various land transportation.
In response, the government formed a pan-government consultative body 'UAM Team Korea'in June last year to propose the goal of launching UAM commercial service in 2025, while supporting private-led flight demonstration projects.
It is also planning to set operating standards suitable for domestic conditions such as communication environment and safety measures.
