[Infostock Daily=Reporter Lee Ji-sun] Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun will speed up future businesses in Russia, one of the emerging markets, by promoting mobility services as well as manufacturing internal combustion locomotives.
Hyundai Motor Group aims to lead the global future car ecosystem by making various attempts in the future mobility field based on stable automobile production capacity. Hyundai Motor said it acquired General Motors (GM) plant in St. Petersburg, Russia's second largest city, on December 23, 2020.
Hyundai Motor has been operating 230,000 production facilities here annually since 2011, and the acquisition will add 100,000 annual production capacity. In Russia, Kia Motors sold 18,038 units based on the European Business Association (AEB) in July 2020, ranking second in market share (12.7%) and Hyundai Motor third (10%) with 14,319 units.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to increase production to further strengthen its influence in the region.
