[Infostock Daily= Reporter An Hoe Hyun] According to a market research company called Counterpoint Research on the 25th, Samsung Electronics had a 37% market share in the U.S. online smartphone market in the second quarter of this year. The figure is up 16% from last year. Apple's share was 38%.
LG Electronics came in third with 9%.
Online sales in the entire U.S. smartphone market increased from 14% in the second quarter of last year to 31% this year.
Samsung Electronics' smartphones took up a 55% share in Amazon, the largest online shopping platform in the U.S. The figure is up 38%p from a year ago.
Samsung Electronics' smartphones also accounted for 33% of sales in online channels of U.S. mobile carriers Verizon and T-Mobile, respectively.
Total U.S. smartphone sales in the second quarter, including both online and offline, fell 25% on-year, according to Counterpoint Research.
