According to Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electronics' Hwaseong Campus, where Samsung Electronics' semiconductor production facilities and research institutes are located, was awarded the "Water Footprint" certification at the ceremony of the British Carbon Trust held at the Seoul Plaza Hotel.
The Carbon Trust is an eco-friendly certification body established by the British government in 2001 as part of its climate change response and carbon reduction measures. Last year, Samsung Electronics received both product carbon footprint and water footprint certification from the Carbon Trust.
Carbon Trust's organizational water footprint certification comprehensively evaluates the water volume used for business sites for three years and the management system for water management.
Samsung Electronics has been engaged in water resource management activities for more than 10 years, recognizing water resource management as the starting point of environmental protection and setting water usage reduction as a management indicator for workplaces. We have also been working on 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) activities to save, reuse and recycle water resources.
