[Infostock Daily=Reporter Park Jeong-Do] Kumho Tires announced on the 21st that it won the "Finalist" award for two future tires aimed at the next generation automobile market in the world-renowned design merchant 'IDEA 2020'. As a result, Kumho Tires has achieved the achievement of winning all three world design awards this year alone.

IDEA is an international design award sponsored by the American Industrial Designers Association. It selects the best design through five criteria such as design innovation, user experience, user benefit, social responsibility, and aesthetics. It is considered as one of the top three design awards in the world. The award ceremony, which is called the Academy Award of Design, was held for the first time in 1980 and celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. This year, more than 1,800 products were exhibited and competed.

Kumho Tires' award-winning products are Airless Tire e-NIMF and Hybrid Tire e-TOPs, which are concept tires with future-oriented technology. Kumho Tires is pursuing tire research and development to prevent accidents caused by tires while driving while maintaining the maximum tire performance, especially targeting the future automobile market where eco-friendly and autonomous vehicles are being developed.

The e-NIMF is a non-aerodynamic tire that does not require air pressure inside the tire and is a tire product for the next generation future automobile market. Basically, non-aerodynamic tires do not require maintenance for air pressure loss as well as driving stability. In addition, tires that need to be discarded and replaced with tread wear during long driving can be semi-permanently used by tread replacement through retreading technology, which is eco-friendly and can save maintenance costs, expected costs and time.

In order to highlight the advantages of each tire, e-TOPS can prevent air leakage due to foreign substances by applying treads and spokes in contact with the ground, and the lower layer has the advantage of the pneumatic tire by including the internal air pressure. This structure is a futuristic tire product that has both driving performance and stability because it maintains the basic performance of general tires and solves the problem caused by air loss.
