[Infostock Daily= Reporter Park Sang-In] Sejong University ranked 9th in Korea, up one notch compared to last year in the “2021 THE World University Rankings” announced by THE(Times Higher Education), a UK institution for higher education evaluation.
Sejong University was ranked 6th in the national university rankings excluding research-oriented universities, and in the world university rankings, it rose remarkably by entering the 301-350th place from the 401~500th place previous year.
The World University Rankings were ranked by evaluating 1,527 universities in 93 countries around the world. △Education conditions 30% △Research results 30% △Thesis citation rate 30% △Internationalization 7.5% △Income from industry-academia cooperation 2.5%. A total of 13 indicators including detailed indices are evaluated every year.
In particular, Sejong University ranked second in the nation in Citations, which reflects the quality of thesis. This is a recognition of Sejong University's years of efforts to hire excellent faculty and devotion to research support.
Sejong University has been pursuing both quantitative growth and qualitative improvement through various research support systems for many years.
In order to improve the quality of thesis, the related system has been continuously reviewed and revised since 2013, and the support for thesis published in top academic journals is particularly strengthened.
This has led to the achievement of being ranked No. 1 among general universities in Korea for the third consecutive year in the "2020 Leiden University Evaluation", which evaluates world universities at the thesis level.

The World University Rankings are evaluated as having high public confidence in the world by applying strict standards based on class, research, influence, and international outlook.
