Lotte Chemical develops Korea's first FDA certified 'PCR-PP' material

[Infostock Daily=Reporter Park Jeong-Do] Lotte Chemical announced on the 3rd that it developed 'Post-Consumer Recycled Polypropylene (PCR-PP)' material that can be applied to cosmetics and food containers for the first time in Korea. PCR-PP has also completed c for the use of cosmetics and food containers for the first time in Korea. Currently, the physical test with domestic and overseas cosmetics container makers is completed, and full-scale supply is expected from 4Q08.

The domestic and overseas global cosmetics industry is pushing for a policy to expand cosmetics packaging materials up to 100% by 2025 to 50% of recycled or plastic recycling materials. Lotte Chemical expects the use of PCR-PP for cosmetics containers to expand, considering the growing interest in developing sustainable packaging containers. Currently, about 60% of domestic cosmetics containers are used for plastic materials, and about 30% of them are made of polypropylene (PP) materials.

Lotte Chemical is promoting project LOOP throughout the company to build a virtuous cycle system of plastics, and it develops recycled plastic materials (rPET, rPP, rABS, rPC) to develop recycled PCs (Polycarbonate: polycarbonate) and recycled ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene styrene: acrylonitrile part) in household appliances such as mobile and TVs.
