[Infostock Daily = Reporter Kim Jong Hyo] 60 companies were selected as candidates for 'materials, parts and equipment start-up 100'.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said it has selected 60 candidates who have passed the second evaluation of 'materials, parts and equipment Startup 100', which will find innovative start-ups that will lead the strengthening of material, parts and equipment competitiveness.
The MMS plans to select 20 out of 60 companies this year, and plan to nurture 100 material, parts and equipment start-ups for five years, each of which is 20 companies each year.
By sector, 15(25%) smart engineering fields, 12(20%) AI and IoT, 12(20%) bio and cosmetics, 12(20%) new materials, and 9(15%) new and renewable energy were selected in the order, and they will be supported by technology and test beds in connection with demand companies.
Looking at the selected tasks, many novel and experimental tasks were selected, which combine manufacturing and information and communication technologies(ICT) such as artificial intelligence(AI)-based image radar, high frequency transmission loss minimization technology for 5G, and flexible display-applied film.
The selected start-ups will receive training and mentoring from experts, including officials from demand companies such as SKC, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, and Hanwha Solutions for about three months, and will be finalized after a pitching evaluation(October) involving professional evaluation teams and national judging teams.
The final selection companies will receive support for commercialization(up to 200 million won), policy funds(up to 10 billion won) for high growth, and R & D(up to 5 points).
On the other hand, 'material, parts, and equipment start-up 100' was supported by 686 start-ups on April 27, and it recorded a high competition rate of 34: 1.
