Products of anti droplet mask that have been found to leak water will be recalled and discarded.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 9th that 3 products from 2 companies out of 56 products from 35 companies were not suitable for liquid resistance tests.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety explained that the collection and inspection conducted liquid resistance tests on folding and flat products in circulation following recent media reports on the water leaking phenomenon of anti droplet masks.
Although all nonconforming items met the criteria for approval, water leaked due to the mask body and upper and lower wings were not properly bonded during the mask production process after approval. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, only the main body parts were tested except for the joint, and it was not a problem with raw materials such as filters.
According to the results of the survey, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to order the two companies that produced and distributed nonconforming products to improve the process, and to dispose of non-conforming products and to recall and discard.
In addition, the company is planning to recall and discard all products regardless nonconforming manufacturing numbers for consumers' safety. Consumers can receive information on exchange or refund of purchased products through the customer center.These products are JPC's EZ Pharm Fresh Care Mask(KF-AD, large and white) EZ Pharm Easy Air mask(KF-AD, large and white) and PnTD’s Welkeeps Untact Mask(KF-AD, large) products.
